Happy New Year From Simply Organized!

Welcome to the first issue of Creating a Simply Organized Life. With the abundance of snow in Madison these last two winters, we decided to introduce our daughter Natalie to cross country skiing. Winter can actually be fun when we have snow. I will be offering some fun Simply Organized events in 2009. I am in the process of developing organizing seminars and workshops with the goal of helping more people benefit from a Simply Organized life. Look for details in future newsletters. I am truly grateful for all past and present clients; it’s an honor and a joy to serve you. Along the way, you have discovered that creating clutter free spaces can feel liberating!
How To Reduce Clutter and Create a Refuge in 3 Simple Steps
Our homes need to be an oasis of calm and order. Follow these 3 simple steps and start creating your relaxing and peaceful refuge. Won’t it feel great to come home?
1. Bills
2. Tax/financial Documents The container doesn’t need to be fancy. A simple file folder or a very large envelope. Store them vertically to keep them visible (horizontal usually equals hidden under a pile). This will really cut down on time wasted searching for papers and may even save you money. No more late fees on lost bills, overdue bills, overdue taxes.
Shed excess pounds of clutter and make some moola in return. Look around your home and re-evaluate your “stuff.” Is it still serving a purpose, do you use it, or even like it? Is it covered with a layer of dust? Some examples of items to sell may be:
A super easy way to sell your things on-line is through Craig’s list.
Tips for using Craig’s list
1. Click on Madison’s link
2. Take a digital photo of item
3. Deal with local buyers only.
Want a non-technical option while getting the neighbors together at the same time? Save your cast offs for the “mother of all” neighborhood garage sales in the spring.
3. Set up a donation station Ours is in a designated area of our basement laundry room and simply consists of paper grocery sacks. I find it easier to maintain an organized home if we subtract more stuff than we add. This donations station provides an easy and accessible home for the stuff we’re subtracting. It’s so much easier to donate stuff when you know where to put it. When we no longer find an object useful, we put it in one of the sacks. Even Natalie adds clothing she no longer fits into or wears. Approximately one time a month I drop the bags off at a donation site, usually grouping it with other errands in the same area.
Refer and Relax
Simply Organized is offering complimentary 30 minute massages at Siren Fitness for referrals that purchase an organizing package.
